Severe water leak affects roads in Atizapán

A rupture in the macro circuit of the Cutzamala System, located on Coatzacoalcos Street, Adolfo López Mateos neighborhood, generated a water leak that affected traffic in the area. The Water Commission of the State of Mexico is carrying out maneuvers and work to mitigate the leak, in collaboration with other organizations.

The leak was reported in the Cutzamala System pipeline at the height of Chamapa-Lechería avenue in the municipality of Atizapán de Zaragoza. Shared images show a leak several meters high and its impact on the traffic. Local authorities are working to open a lane in the affected area.

The Municipal Coordination of Civil Protection Firefighters Environmental Atizapán and the Potable Water Drainage and Sanitation Services are responding to the rupture of the air release valve of the Cutzamala System. The leak had already been reported previously, but it has now intensified.

Regarding the water supply situation, recent rains have benefited the dams of the Cutzamala System, allowing an increase in water delivery to the State of Mexico and Mexico City. One in four homes in the Valley of Mexico depends on this system, so with this improvement, an increase in supply compared to previous months is likely to be perceived.

The National Water Commission announced that, thanks to proper hydrological management, 245.31 million cubic meters of water have been recovered, which has allowed an increase in water delivery to the area. It is important to note that the repair work on the leak in the macro circuit of the Cutzamala System is expected to affect 11 municipalities, starting next Friday.
